APARTMENT BUILDING PUBLIC CORRIDORS
(Photos by iPhone)
This classic Forest Hills apartment building with two 10-story wings has an impressive full-block footprint. The Lobby and First Floor corridors were renovated previously, yet the Upper Floors 2-10/Pentouse still needed gut renovations to enliven the dreary finishes and fixtures from several decades ago. After the HUMANCAPES Upper Floor renovations, tasteful elements breathed new life into the windowless hallways. Each floor is now a welcoming environment for all, and residents enjoy a “welcome home” feeling everyday in their beautiful new home.

For the new Floors 2-through-Penthouse HUMANSCAPES renovations, the Clients required that we maintain a similar warm-neutral color palette to the previous Lobby/First Floor renovations. They agreed to be open about whether to continue the previous-renovations’ traditonal style or have a less-traditional style for the Upper Floors. Before the new renovations, the dated finishes and fixtures were a daily annoyance to residents. After renovations, the response was overwhelmingly positive to the carefully-selected elements. Without any windows or natural light, the public hallways were now brighter, more-welcoming, and cheerful areas for all to enjoy while also providing a calming respite. Most new elements referenced the previous Lobby/First Floor renovations while also creating a fresh new and subtly-eclectic identity for the Upper Floors.
